Anton
character profile:
Anton is a Russian gangster known as the 'boss'. He is smart in the way he dresses and his intelligence, he's professional, confident and very mysterious. His character takes inspiration from Daniel Craig's character in Layer Cake who's mysterious personality is established by him being anonymous, with no name; He also has a strong position of power and respect and has complete control in his criminal lifestyle.
Costume:
- Suit- To establish his wealth, status and smart appearance.
- Long black coat- To emphasise his mystery by making him look more concealed.
- Watch- To establish that he is organised.
- Smart black shoes- reveal he is neat and sophisticated.
Props:
- Briefcase- enigma, contains state secrets.
- Gun- armed with a weapon to establish him as dangerous and in control
Suitability for genre/audience, logistics of character:
The character suits the British gangster theme because he has a sense of danger and enigma and he has a background as a successful criminal, exchanging secrets and dealing in illegal activities. They are suitable for the audience as he is Russian so shows a diversity in the characters, and he is similar to other characters in thrillers, such as James Bond. The character is easily accessible because they can be created through the use of costume and props in order to portray their personality.
Chantelle
Character profile:
Chantelle is a British gangster, thug from the streets. She is the opposite of Anton's character as she has a stubborn, strong front but can be paranoid and nervous. Chantelle is a contemporary female thug, and her costume establishes her as a chav with a rough past that has led her into a life of conning people.Costume:
- hoodie- Thug clothing, establishes their lack of wealth and they have a more common status.
- Black jeans
- Hoop earrings- Chav
- Trainers- Less authority and class.
- A knife- connote her danger, but not as well equipped as Anton (who has a gun therefore is more superior)
Suitability for genre/ audience, logistics of character:
The character is easy to create as she has a clear personality as a thug and her costume is simple and accessible. Chantelle suits the genre as she is a traditional female gangster, but also stands out as a femme fatale because she seems naive and inferior to Anton, however ends up conning him and revealing her darker side. She is also suitable for the audience because she can be easily relatable.
